And while Maria looks totally thrilled to be in the spotlight, Judite and her husband Ricardo often join her for group costume scenarios.

Take for instance, when Maria dressed up as Princess Leia in March, her dad took on the guise of Darth Vader.

Meanwhile Judite has been her superhero sidekick on numerous occasions.

The dressing up enthusiasts said that it all started when Maria’s aunt gave the then-baby a light saber and a ballerina skirt.

Maria, who uses the account name Duda’s Universe and also has a Facebook page, has found a legion of fans.

Granted October is always a month for costumes thanks to Halloween, but in the past month alone Maria has pulled off impressively uncanny looks inspired by Breaking Bad’s Walter White, Coraline, Maleficent and The Joker.

Earlier this summer, she delighted fans with an outfit referencing Uma Thuman’s iconic character Mia in the movie Pulp Fiction.

She also pulled off popular transformations into Stranger Things characters Eleven and Dustin Henderson.

The term cosplay- a portmanteau of costume and play – began to circulate in 1984 in Japan. It refers to the activity of dressing up as a character from comic books, video games or television shows.

The phenomenon is huge on Instagram, with almost 39 million cosplay posts shared to date.

It seems that the accounts showing cosplaying children are gaining traction too.

Lane the Wee One, aka Florida-based Lane Rouch, has gained over 375,000 followers thanks to her dress up-obsessed parents (who often appear in costume on the feed themselves).
